NEW ZEALANDS
If you're looking for a fresh homesteading choice, New Zealand rabbits are hard to beat for sustainability. With a humane breeding schedule, a single New Zealand doe can comfortably produce between 70 and 120 pounds of clean, dressed meat annually. By spacing out litters to four or five times a year—allowing the doe to fully wean her kits and rest between pregnancies—she can sustainably raise 28 to 35 fryers to a harvest weight of 5 pounds each. Because New Zealand rabbits have an exceptional dress-out yield of up to 60%, they convert feed into high-quality protein more efficiently than larger livestock. If you want an efficient, sustainable way to raise clean, homegrown meat for your family, adding New Zealands to your backyard is a great way to go.
We breed to the American Rabbits Breeders Association (ARBA) Standard of Perfection to ensure top-producing animals, and all of our rabbits come with ARBA pedigrees. While we carefully select our breeding stock with the goal of improving quality with each generation and producing rabbits suitable for show, please note that no rabbit can be guaranteed as show quality.
