COTURNIX QUAIL
JUMBO COTURNIX QUAIL
We raise Jumbo Coturnix quail for their unparalleled sustainability. Quick maturity, minimal space requirements, and their charming demeanor make quail a practical and rewarding addition to any household. Through our extensive selective breeding program the Coturnix quail we raise are incredibly hardy, top producers that thrive in all-season outdoor aviaries in Central Oregon.
Our Jumbo Coturnix quail begin laying at approximately 8 weeks of age and are strong, consistent producers of large quail eggs, averaging 250–300 eggs per year. With year-round lighting, they are capable of nearly daily laying. Our birds are bred for a larger frame and increased dressed weight compared to standard Coturnix strains, making them ideal for both egg production and meat. They are feather sexable at 4 weeks of age, and are ready for processing at 8 weeks of age.
Quail eggs are nutrient dense, containing protein, healthy fats, an key vitamins like B12, selenium and choline. Some individuals with sensitivity to chicken eggs report better tolerance to quail eggs, likely due to differences in protein structure and smaller overall egg size. If you have kids they'll love quail eggs—they taste just like chicken eggs but their bite-sized nature makes them perfect for little hands .
Quail are adorable, and are truly a pleasure to keep. They’re easier to care for and more cost efficient than chickens, and they are quiet—even a quail roosters’ crow is pleasant and soft, making quail a great choice for smaller spaces or situations where traditional poultry may not be an option. We recommend giving your quail at least 1 sq. ft. of living space per bird. This means anyone can keep a small covey of quail and enjoy fresh eggs daily. Small backyard aviaries, back porch hutches, and even well-ventilated indoor enclosures are a few popular ways to house quail.
CELADON COTURNIX QUAIL
We raise Celadon Coturnix Quail for one simple reason: their beautiful blue eggs. While they are smaller birds than our Jumbo Coturnix and lay smaller eggs, their unique blue shells make them a favorite among those who keep them.
Our Celadons are 100% blue egg layers. They are feather sexable at around 4 weeks of age and begin laying at approximately 8 weeks. They're easy to care for, mature quickly, and are a fun addition for anyone wanting to add color to their egg basket.
While we keep Celadons for their beautiful blue eggs rather than for meat production, they are hardy, productive little birds that are easy to care for and rewarding to keep.
